Routine maintenance of laser printers

During the use of laser printers, users often fail because they do not pay attention to routine maintenance. Therefore, routine maintenance is extremely important to reduce the failure of the printer. In order to avoid or reduce the failure of the laser printer, the following routine maintenance should be performed.

(1) Maintenance of electrode wire

Because there are residual toner, dust, and paper debris in the printer, charging, transfer, separation, and elimination of the electrode wire will cause the voltage to drop, affecting the normal operation performance. At this point, carefully remove the electrode wire assembly, first remove the foreign matter adhered to it with a brush, and then gently clean it with a cotton wool.

(2) Maintenance of laser scanning system

Lasers and various work mirrors in the laser scanning system are contaminated with dust, etc., which will increase the bottom ash of printed parts and the images are unclear. They can be wiped clean with absorbent cotton, but care should be taken not to change their original position or damage.

(3) Maintenance of fixing heater roller

The fuser heating roller sticks with a layer of toner after a long period of use, causing black marks on the printout. It can be wiped clean with anhydrous cotton wool, avoid using a blade to scratch, to prevent damage to the fuser heating roller.

(4) Maintenance of photoelectric sensors

Photoelectric sensors are contaminated and cause the printer to detect malfunctions. If the manual feed sensor is contaminated, the printer control system does not detect a paper signal and the manual feed function will fail. Therefore, the sensor surface should be wiped clean with a cotton wool to keep them clean and always have the sensitivity of the sensor. .

(5) Maintenance of toner cartridges

The toner cartridge of the laser printer is a silicone photoconductor, and there is often a problem of working fatigue. The following methods can be used for maintenance:

1 Carefully remove the drum unit, wipe the surface clean with a cotton wool, but do not use force to prevent scratching the drum surface;

2 Wipe the surface of the drum with a special cleaning agent for the absorbent drum, wipe the drum, and use a spiral-type method to clean the surface of the cartridge. After wiping, clean the cleaner with absorbent cotton.

3 Use a gauze bag filled with talcum powder to gently pat a layer of talcum powder on the surface of the drum, which can then be reused.

(6) Maintenance of sensor strips and transmitter locks

Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with clean water to wipe away foreign objects such as paper dust collected on the silvery white strips and the transmitter lock plate to ensure uninterrupted transmission.

(7) Maintenance of the paper guide plate

The transport guide is located below the toner cartridge, and it is used to transfer paper through the toner cartridge to the fuser unit. When cleaning, wipe the surface of the paper guide with a soft cloth slightly moistened with water to ensure that the print is clean and clear. Note that the printer must be turned off before performing the above cleaning work. Avoid light when cleaning the photosensitive drum.
