Outdoor camping | You can use these types of stoves

When performing outdoor activities, the body must maintain its physical strength, energy, and calories by ingesting food and water. Especially when camping in winter, high altitude, etc., we need to cook a hot meal and burn a pot of hot water to provide heat and energy. By doing so, we can avoid losing temperature and bring unnecessary harm to our body and mind.

When camping outdoors, the primary consideration for cooking is the choice of stove. So how should we combine actual conditions to choose a suitable stove for outdoor trips?

Stove selection:

In the case of equal product quality, priority should be given to the safety, convenience, and combustion efficiency of the furnace. And consider whether the maintenance and cleaning are convenient, the ability to adapt to the low temperature environment, and the working efficiency of the harsh environment. Need to ensure the quality of the fuel, generally based on the manufacturer recommended fuel to buy spare, during which do not easily replace other fuels, the use of different fuel will easily lead to the burner and pipe coke, damage. The most important thing is to consider the trip itself and select the right stove.

The stoves used outdoors are generally divided into four categories according to the energy used by the burner: gas stoves, oil stoves, alcohol stoves, wood stoves

I. Gas furnace

Gas stoves can be divided into three types according to different burners: integral furnace, split furnace, and direct furnace

1 Integral heat collector: The integrated collector pot tightly connects the pot, stove, and gas tank. It is generally used flat gas tank. Outdoors, the integrated cooker is a small potent person who cooks water efficiently. Especially in cold conditions such as winter and high altitude, it is possible to use an integrated collector to melt snow and boil water. The integrated collector is suitable for all outdoor activities. It is particularly suitable when climbing high altitudes, but it is necessary to reduce the weight of the load.

Advantages: High combustion efficiency, a wind-resistant plate without the use of windshields, is able to cope with high altitude oxygen deficiency.

Disadvantages: It must be matched with the collector and the combination is poor. Poor stability.

2 Split-body furnace: The split furnace separates the burner from the gas cylinder, and the gas cylinder is mainly used for the flat gas cylinder. Long gas tanks can also be used, but long gas tanks are best placed on flat ground, otherwise they are dangerous. The two are connected by a duct and are outdoor stoves that can be seen everywhere and can cook a variety of dishes. The split oven has a wide range of applications, and is suitable for multi-person camping. It can set up a relatively large pot to meet the cooking requirements of many people's diets. It can also adapt to the uneven terrain and meet the needs of high altitude or winter camping.

Advantages: strong support, good stability, all-round wind protection;

Disadvantages: Large size, heavy weight, inconvenient to carry; lower fuel economy.

3 Integral Furnace: This minimalist gas stove connects the burner directly to the gas tank and leaves the conduit free to meet the weight demand and remove unnecessary weight. Most direct furnaces are around 60-200 grams and the burner can be held in one hand. The direct-fired boiler cannot carry the weight of a cauldron and is not suitable for camping by many people. It is suitable for light camping for one person and can cook personal food.

Advantages: Lighter weight and smaller size than split ovens for easy carrying.

Disadvantages: gas tank as a support, poor stability, causing danger, poor wind resistance.

II. Oil furnace

Oil furnace: In today's oil furnaces, split-type structures are used. Fuel bottles and burners are connected through conduits. Fuel bottles are connected to pressure pumps to increase fuel bottle pressure. The oil furnace needs to be preheated, equipped with a preheating tube and a preheated tray, so that the liquid fuel can be fully vaporized and fully burned. Oil stoves are suitable for winter or high altitude camping for many people. Liquid fuels have excellent performance in cold weather. If it is a single camp, it is not necessary because it is not portable.

Advantages: good stability, good windproof. Various sources of fuel (white oil, gasoline, kerosene, etc.), fuel tanks can be reused, and the cost-effectiveness of fuel is high.

Disadvantages: Large size, heavy weight, petrol smell. The operation is cumbersome, and it needs frequent maintenance (positioning of coke plugs, extinguishing the oil in the pipeline, etc.), the firepower is not easy to control, and the replacement frequency of accessories is high. Non-self-drivers are inconvenient to carry, and it is difficult to obtain fuel.

III. Alcohol stove, wood stove

Alcohol stove: Alcohol stove is very light weight, usually about 135g. Basically aluminum. There are even cans made of alcohol stoves. It is compact and light, easy to carry, and has extensive access to fuel. It is easy to travel in different places. However, the alcohol stove itself has poor stability and wind resistance, so it is not suitable for camping in harsh environments. Low combustion performance, generally only used as boiled water. The lack of closed fuel bottles makes it easy to tip over and cause unnecessary consequences. The firepower cannot be controlled and can only be used as a spare stove. Alcohol stoves are generally suitable for low-altitude camping on a day-trip or overnight trips. They are not suitable for harsh, cold weather and the environment. They are often used as spare stoves.

Firewood stove: The firewood stove is now professionally designed, with high thermal efficiency, environmental protection and other advantages. As long as dry firewood can be used, most of them have automatic blowers. The fuel has a wide range of access, windproof and stability are better, and the safety is higher. The disadvantage is that the fire is more troublesome, the firepower is not controllable, the smoke is large, and the weight is relatively heavy. but. Firewood stoves are more suitable for outdoor camping by self-driving or mountain forests. Otherwise, the problem of difficult fuel collection will be dealt with. Fuels are greatly affected by the environment. Not suitable for bad weather, snow and other camping.

Stove cleaning and maintenance:

The stoves need regular maintenance, such as periodic replacement of rubber rings, cleaning of carbon deposits in fuel bottles, pipes, and burners. Check regularly for cracks or damage to prevent unnecessary damage. Most manufacturers will provide supporting cleaning and maintenance tools as well as instructions. Before the trip, you must read the instructions carefully to understand the usage of maintenance and cleaning tools.

Used furnace precautions:

· Newly purchased furnaces need to be inspected for equipment safety in advance, foresee problems and resolve them as soon as possible.

· To avoid damage to parts and tipping of fuel, care must be taken to pack

• Before loading the fuel into the fuel bottle, the show checks the fuel for any precipitated impurities. If oil, it needs to be filtered with a funnel so as not to clog the pipe.

· If you want to cook on uneven ground or in a tent, you need to put on the stove base.

· Regularly clean the interface of pipes, burners, and fuel bottles to avoid the reduction of working efficiency or danger caused by carbon deposition.

· Use black pot as much as possible, black absorbs heat fastest.

A heat exchanger saves you cooking time and reduces fuel consumption.

• When a gas tank is generally camped at high altitude or in winter, it will be affected by cold air. A small portion of the gas will liquefy and can be used for a period of time.
